Ordering & Prescriptions

How do I retrieve my order information from the previous EyeglassDirect website?

For any order placed before May 19, 2025, contact us at (866) 536-7790 or info@eyeglassdirect.com during normal business hours and we'll retrieve your order and prescription information.

How do I get a prescription for eyeglasses?

Schedule an eye exam with a licensed optometrist or ophthalmologist. They'll assess your vision and provide the correct prescription for your eyeglasses.

How often should I get an eye exam?

We recommend a comprehensive eye exam once a year to keep your prescription current and monitor your overall eye health.

What information do I need to order glasses from EyeglassDirect?

You'll need your current eyeglass prescription and your pupillary distance (PD) measurement. If you're unsure how to measure your PD, visit our Prescription Information page. Then simply choose a frame and lens package.

How do I enter my prescription when placing an order?

Our Prescription Information page walks you through reading your prescription and entering each value correctly on your order form.

If I made a mistake on my order form, what should I do?

Contact us as soon as possible at 1-866-LENS-790 (1-866-536-7790) or by email so we can correct your order before it's processed.

Cylinder, Axis, and Add were left off my prescription. What do I enter?

Not every prescription includes these values. No Cylinder and Axis means you have no astigmatism correction; no Add means you have no reading addition. If your doctor left these fields blank, leave them blank on the order form too.

Can I order non-prescription eyeglasses or sunglasses?

Yes. Enter "PLANO" for Sphere, leave Cylinder, Axis, and Add blank, and enter 62 for pupillary distance. For non-prescription sunglasses, select a tint color (gray or brown).

Frames & Fit

Are your online glasses the same quality as those from a local vision center?

Yes. We offer a wide range of high-quality frames and the same lens options you'd find locally, and a licensed optician inspects every order before it ships. The main difference is price — buying from us costs significantly less.

How do I choose the right frame?

If you already wear glasses, choose a frame similar in size and shape to your current pair — the measurements in millimeters are printed on the bridge or temples, and you can compare them to the dimensions listed for each of our frames. You can also print a picture of a frame to compare it side by side. If you're new to glasses, visit our Face Types guide to find the shapes and sizes that suit your face best.

What types of frames do you offer?
What if I don't like my frames when they arrive?

We offer a 30-day unconditional exchange policy. If you're not happy with the style or fit of your frames, you can exchange them at no additional charge (less shipping).

How can I have my frames adjusted?

Any local optician or optometrist can adjust your frames for a comfortable fit.

Lenses & Options

Do you offer lenses that darken outdoors (Transitions lenses)?

Yes. We carry Generation S Transitions lenses, which stay clear indoors and darken progressively based on the amount of sunlight outside. See our Lens Info and Options page for the full range of lens choices.

Can I get my prescription made in sunglasses?

Yes. Enter your prescription just as you would for clear glasses and select your preferred tint color (gray or brown). We recommend using an eyeglass prescription rather than a contact lens prescription; ask your doctor for a separate eyeglass prescription if needed.

Do you sell no-line bifocals (progressive lenses)?

Yes. We offer both standard lined bifocals and no-line progressive lenses.

If I choose no-line progressive lenses, what determines where the progression starts?

Our technical team uses a proven mathematical formula to calculate the optimal segment height for progressive lenses (and standard bifocals), giving us a 98% success rate. If you're not satisfied, we'll remake your glasses at no additional cost.

Can you make my prescription lenses in glass?

Yes. Please call us at 1-866-LENS-790 (1-866-536-7790) for glass lens pricing and availability.

Can you make glasses for a very strong prescription?

Yes. Please contact us for pricing and availability on high-power prescriptions.

Pupillary Distance (PD)

What is pupillary distance (PD)?

Pupillary distance (PD) is the distance between the center of your right pupil and the center of your left pupil. This measurement is needed to center the lenses correctly within your chosen frame.

How do I measure my pupillary distance (PD)?

Visit our Pupillary Distance page for step-by-step instructions, including a photo guide and a downloadable ruler you can print at home.

I was given two pupillary distance numbers. Which one do I use?

Two numbers usually mean either distance and reading PD, or right (OD) and left (OS) PD. For example, if your numbers are 63 and 60, the higher number is your distance PD and the lower is your near/reading PD. If your numbers look like 33.5 / 32.5, your PD was measured one eye at a time (monocular) — the first number is your right eye (OD) and the second is your left eye (OS). At checkout, check the two-PD box and enter both measurements.

Insurance, Guarantees & Promotions

Do you accept vision insurance plans?

We don't bill insurance companies directly, but many customers get reimbursed. Check with your insurance carrier or union to see whether your glasses qualify for reimbursement.

My insurance requires an itemized bill with a tax ID number. Can you provide that?

Yes. Contact us and we'll gladly provide an itemized bill that includes our tax ID number for your reimbursement claim.

What guarantees and warranties do you offer?

We stand behind every order:

  • We guarantee your lens prescription is filled correctly — a licensed optician inspects every pair before shipping.
  • Frames carry a one-year warranty against manufacturer defects.
  • We guarantee proper frame alignment.
  • We guarantee safe delivery: every pair ships in a protective hard case with a microfiber cleaning cloth.
  • Every order is backed by our 30-day unconditional exchange policy (less shipping).
Do you have any special offers or promotions?

Yes. For every pair of eyeglasses you order at full price, you can get a second pair at half price. This offer applies to glasses for the same person; if the two pairs differ in price, we discount the lower-priced pair. Excluded from the discount: anti-glare coating, fashion and sunglass tint, rimless titanium, and magnetic clip-ons.

Shipping & Delivery

When will I receive my order?
