What information will I need to order glasses from EyeglassDirect?
You need your prescription and your pupillary measurement. If you need more help or don’t know how to measure your pupillary distance yourself, go to Prescription Information. Then choose a frame and lens package.

How do I enter my prescription on my order?
For detailed information on how to read your prescription and enter it on your order, go to About Your Prescription.

Are the glasses you sell online of the same quality as those available at my local vision center?
Yes. We offer a large variety of high-quality frames and the very same lens options that you can get locally. Moreover, a licensed optician checks each order before it is sent out. The only difference in purchasing locally and purchasing from us is that our cost is significantly less.
What if I don’t like my frames when they arrive?
We have a 30-day unconditional exchange policy, which means that if you’re not pleased with the style or fit of your frames, you can exchange them without additional charge.
What should I consider when choosing a frame?
If you already wear glasses, simply go to our selection of frames and choose a frame that is similar in size and shape to your present glasses. You can also print out a picture of each frame and compare it to your current glasses. Your glasses have the size in millimeters on the nose bridge or temples of the frame. You can compare them to the dimensions provided for each one of our frames. If you have not been wearing glasses until now, please go to Face Types, which will help you determine which size and shapes work best with your face.
Do you offer lenses that darken when you go outside?
We carry Next Generation™ Transitions® Lenses, which are clear indoors and get progressively darker depending upon the amount of sunshine outdoors. To browse our complete inventory of lens options, go to Lens Info and Options.

Can I get my prescription filled in sunglasses?
Of course. Just enter your prescription as you would for glasses and be sure to select the lens color (gray or brown) that you prefer.

Using contact lens prescriptions
We recommend you get a separate prescription from your doctor.

What does the term pupillary distance mean?
Pupillary distance (PD) is the distance between the center of your right pupil (the black circle that contracts and expands depending upon available light) and the center of your left pupil. This measurement is necessary to precisely center the lenses in a specific frame.

I was given two numbers for pupillary distance. Which one do I use?
If your optician or optometrist provided two numbers, they are either distance and reading pupillary distance (PD), or right (OD) and left (OS) PD. Let’s say your numbers are 63 and 60. The former, which is always higher, is for distance, and the latter, which is always lower, is for near-vision reading only. Another example: If your numbers are 33.5/32.5, your PD was taken monocularly, meaning one eye at a time. The first number is for your right eye (OD); the second is for your left eye (OS). Enter this information in the customer comments section of the order form.

Do you sell bifocals without the line?
We offer both standard bifocal and no-line progressive lenses.

If I select progressive no-line lenses, what determines where the progression starts?

The technical staff at EyeglassDirect has developed a mathematical formula to determine the optimal segment height for progressive lenses. (The same applies to standard bifocals.) This method has provided us with a 98 percent success rate. As always, if you are not satisfied with your glasses, we will replace them at no additional cost.

Do you accept vision insurance plans?
We do not bill insurance companies directly, but you can check with your insurance carrier or union to see if your glasses are covered by their reimbursement policy.

My insurance company requires an itemized bill with a tax ID number. Can you provide me that?
Yes, we can. Please contact us and we will gladly supply you with a bill that includes the number.

What guarantees do you offer?
First we guarantee that your lens prescription is correctly filled. Prior to shipping, each pair of eyeglasses is thoroughly inspected by a licensed optician to verify the prescription. Secondly, our frames have a one-year warranty against manufacturer’s defects. We also guarantee that the frame is properly aligned. Finally, we guarantee that your glasses will arrive safely. To ensure and to maximize their lifespan, we package all glasses in an attractive hard case with a microfiber cleaning cloth. We have every confidence that you will be completely satisfied with our product, which is why we offer a 30-day unconditional exchange policy (less shipping).
Do you have any special offers or promotions?
Yes, we do. For every pair of eyeglasses you order at full price, you can get a second pair at half price. This offer applies only to glasses for the same person. If the two pairs are not the same price, we discount the lower-priced pair (excluded from discount: anti-glare coating, fashion and sunglass tint, rimless titanium and magnetic clip-ons).
Can you make my prescription lenses out of Glass.
Yes. Please call us at 1-866-LENS-790 for pricing and availability.
What types of frames do you offer?
- Metal
- Plastic
- Flexible Titanium
- Rimless Titanium
- Magnetic Clip-ons
When can I expect to get my order?
For further details, please see Shipping.
Do you ship to people in serving in the military forces?
Yes. We use the US Postal Service for all of our orders so we can ship your glasses to an APO/FPO address as well as P.O. boxes.
Can you make glasses for someone with a very strong prescription?
Yes, we can. Please contact us for pricing and availability.
How can I have my frames adjusted?
An optician or optometrist will do this for you.
If I made a mistake when I filled out my order form, what should I do?
Call us as soon as possible at 1-866-LENS-790 or email us so that we can correct your order.
How do I measure my pupillary distance (PD)?
Click on Pupillary Distance for complete instructions, including a photograph as well as a handy ruler you can download.
Cylinder, Axis and Add were omitted from my prescription. How should I complete this entry?
Not all prescriptions have Cylinder, Axis and Add. The absence of Cylinder and Axis means that you do not have a correction for astigmatism. The absence of ADD means that you do not have a reading addition. If your doctor omitted this information, leave the fields blank on the prescription form.
Can I order non-prescription eyeglasses or sunglasses?
Of course. Enter “PLANO” for Sphere, leave Cylindar, Axis and Add, blank and input 62 for pupillary distance. For sunglasses, please select a color (grey or brown).
